Individual Therapy in Brooklyn & Across New York

Welcome,

I'm Catherine von Klitzing, LCSW, an integrative psychotherapist and EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist, based in Brooklyn, NY.

I moved from Europe to the United States at age 15 — a transition that shaped my early interest in identity development, relational patterns, and how environment shapes a person's sense of self. I'm especially drawn to how adapting between cultures can create identity confusion, displacement, or a persistent sense of feeling untethered from others.

I received my master's degree from the Hunter College School of Social Work, with a clinical focus on how early attachment experiences shape identity and relationship patterns into adulthood.

My practice offers individualized, insight-oriented care for high-achieving adults — including creative professionals and those navigating complex identities across cultures — working through anxiety, complex trauma, relationship and boundary difficulties, and long-standing patterns of self-doubt.

My approach integrates attachment theory, psychodynamic and insight-oriented psychotherapy, and evidence-based EMDR reprocessing — helping clients understand not just what happened, but how it continues to shape the way they think, relate, and move through the world, not just manage symptoms, but understand their origins. Treatment shifts between exploratory and precise, depending on what the moment calls for, within a collaborative relationship that respects your intelligence and moves at the pace of genuine change, not performance of it.
